DOHA, August 12 (QNA): Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) general index opened Wednesday's trading session slightly lower, declining by 4.55 points, or 0.05%, to reach 10,022 points.


Four Sectors Weigh on Market

The market opened under pressure from declines across four sectors.

Sectors Posting Declines

  • Insurance: Down 0.66%

  • Telecoms: Down 0.30%

  • Transportation: Down 0.18%

  • Real Estate: Down 0.12%


Three Sectors Record Gains

Despite the overall decline, three sectors opened in positive territory.

  • Consumer Goods and Services: Up 0.36%

  • Industrials: Up 0.31%

  • Banks and Financial Services: Up 0.09%


Trading Activity

By 10:00am, Qatar Stock Exchange recorded significant trading activity, with turnover reaching QR54.381 million.

According to QSE data:

  • 33.969 million shares were traded.

  • A total of 3,175 transactions were recorded.

  • The QSE index stood at 10,022 points.


Market Opens with Mixed Performance

The mixed sector performance highlights cautious sentiment among investors at the start of Wednesday's session. While insurance, telecoms, transportation and real estate stocks weighed on the benchmark, gains in consumer goods, industrials and banking stocks provided some support.
